Triangle North business parks continue site improvements

Triangle North Granville developers are building roadways, expanding the park entrance, and connecting the park to City of Oxford wastewater service.

Triangle North business parks continue site improvements this summer, developing roadways and utilities to serve prospective companies.

Infrastructure improvements continue

Triangle North Granville widened and strengthened the entrance at Tabbs Creek Road, which connects the park to Interstate 85. Developers expect to complete a new turn lane by the end of July. The park is also in the final stages of completing a wastewater pump station connecting the park to City of Oxford service.

Triangle North Franklin is primed to provide broadband service to companies that locate in the park thanks to a partnership with Embarq. The utility company is splitting the $240,000 price tag to install a broadband substation at the park and extend fiberoptic lines and service to its new 33,900-square-foot office and light manufacturing building as soon as a tenant is found.

Developers continue seeking funds to complete a 1.3-mile section of roadway that will connect Triangle North Franklin directly to U.S. Highway 401. The park has raised $900,000 from the N.C. Department of Transportation and N.C. General Assembly and needs another $1.5 million to complete the project.

Triangle North Vance is set to begin roadway improvements. Park officials will meet in late July with the N.C. Department of Transportation to discuss upgrades to the park entrance.

Regional supporters fund park signage

New entrance signs will be installed at all four Triangle North parks thanks to generous donations from three local utilities — Embarq, Progress Energy and PSNC Energy— and Franklin County Committee of 100. The signs will provide greater visibility for the parks during this critical marketing phase of the project.

Life science and medical device marketing campaigns under development

The N.C. Biotechnology Center is collaborating with Triangle North in a marketing study to identify life sciences companies in the United States with strong potential to expand to an East Coast market. The study team plans to identify about 300 companies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors that could benefit from locating in close proximity to the Research Triangle Region's world-leading life sciences cluster. Once identified, Triangle North will market directly to these companies to encourage them to consider one of its four parks for a facility.

Anyone with information on life sciences companies that are poised for expansion should contact Triangle North Executive Director Bud Cohoon, budcohoon@trianglenorthnc.org or (252) 436-6098.

A medical device study and marketing campaign will follow the life science initiative later this summer.

Speaking opportunities invited

Triangle North's marketing strategy relies on making personal contact with individuals and organizations that can help connect park developers with companies and startups in need of affordable space to grow their businesses.

Triangle North representatives speak regularly to civic associations, realtor groups, government bodies and others to explain the benefits this tax-advantaged network of business parks offers growing life science, technology, logistics and manfacturing companies. Among them is a $12,500 tax credit for every job a company creates in any of the parks.

Through a unique four-county revenue sharing arrangement, any tax revenues generated at a park in one county will be shared with the other three. As a result, all of the counties will benefit with jobs and tax revenues when companies locate in any of the parks.
